Fear - The ultimate killer

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me - Psalm 23:4

"We are what we think we are", heard this line before? I'm sure just like I have, everyone would have been advised a numerous time by teachers, parents, peer, friends and sometime even neighbors to think positive or simply change the way we think.

Its not been a different story for me either. Everytime, everywhere, I have come across "Gurus" in the art of "not minding their own business but never failing to give an advise"skills, an advice you probably never asked for. With these, meddlesome people always around us, we tend to forget who we really are and put on a mask to be socially accepted. The fear of been tagged as different and unconventional is so strong that I have noticed people eventually lose their true identity.

Fear - the root cause of every bit of negativity we carry within ourselves is cancerous and more harmful than smoking a packet of cigarettes every day.

Its funny how fear can make a rope appear to be a snake in the absence of light or rather in the presence of fear in your mind. I believe, fear is simply not knowing the outcome or simply assuming a bad outcome. There's nothing to be afraid of, only to be discovered. I was always afraid of stray dogs that terrorized every passerby and even heard stories of them biting a few of them. I always believed what I heard and feared these dogs for years until one day when I came back from work at 3 am and had no choice but to pass these devilish bunch of dogs. With every possible prayer I learnt since childhood on my mouth, I slowly continued walking towards them, hoping they don't notice me but to my greatest fear, they did. All I could see is the elevator as once I reach there, they wouldn't follow me. However, to my surprise, they didn't give me the attention I thought they would. I just walked by the scariest dog in the bunch and he didn't seemed to be much bothered with my walking by. I learnt my lesson about fear. Its only when you don't know what in store for you if something happens.

The true warriors are the ones who have overcome this emotion that does kill you faster than your enemy. Overcome fear and like I did, you would see that things around you change for good. If fearing something is a tough to give up habit for you like smoking is to some, than fear not been a good son to your parents, a good brother/sister, a good parent and overall a good human because at the end of day, its not what you fear but you don't will make you the person you'd be proud of.
